ABOUT Inyan Hocoka Tipi Ki
Inyan Hocoka Tipi Ki Prevention Resource Center is here to build and strengthen Parmalee and surrounding communities by developing proactive (Prevention) approaches to reducing risk factors for youth.

The organization has formed and is facilitating partnerships with local organizations, school districts, Behavioral Health Facilities, surrounding communities, and the Juvenile Court System. This collaborative network is focused on the provision of effective culturally based strategies to deal with violence, alcohol, drug, and tobacco and forms a “web of resiliency" for youth.

Through our collaborations with community-based providers gathered to form strong local coalitions, we function as a centralized clearinghouse of resources for youth, parents, professionals, treatment providers, educators, the media and the general public.
We provide education through a comprehensive continuum of resources, training, and community-related services.
We serve as a liaison to support coalitions and prevention providers with the integration of prevention science into practice.

We serve families and our youth within the three communities of Parmelee, He Dog and Upper Cutmeat on the Rosebud Reservation.
Our Inspiration
Roy D. Stone, Sr.
Inyan Hocoka Tipi Ki was established in April 2014 with the help of our medicine man/spiritual leader Roy D. Stone, Sr from Parmelee, SD. The vision he had was to continue helping our people of this great nation through his center.
After his passing, we continue to follow his vision.
In his memory, Inyan Hocoka Tipi Ki will continue to help the people by building the foundation of our cultural beliefs.
"Remember the people, work for the people and help heal."
Our Philosophy

We foster a commitment to all individuals that will promote pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of hope in the future.
Only through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility be re-established that will give families and youth the commitment to follow through on the path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Principles we pursue:
-
Possibility: Inyan Hocoka Tipi Ki Prevention Resource Center wants to expand the perspective of children and families to make them aware of life's opportunities and to work with families.
-
Responsibility: The focus is to empower youth & families in establishing goals and following through on commitments.
-
Commitment: Inspire pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and instill a sense of hope in the future for all ages.
-
Support: Their support system dramatically influences an individual. Inyan Hocoka Tipi Ki Prevention Resource Center will surround families and children in a caring, inclusive learning environment and spiritually.
Our Approach

Prevention reduces the risk of unhealthy behaviors.
We provide a holistic approach to Prevention, Training, and Research.

We utilize the Strategic Prevention Planning Framework to promote strategies that are designed to reduce risk factors confronted by communities and families. By reducing risk factors and strengthening protective factors within communities, families, and youth, we minimize the adverse effects of substance abuse.

Youth are matched with a caring adult volunteer who is trained to focus on positive reinforcement, trust-building, and the achievement of goals, by engaging youth in one-on-one outings and group adventures in the community. Mentors and youth agree to meet for 10-15 hours per month for a full year.
Ongoing training will continue with mentors on individual case management throughout the year. IHTKPRC will have monthly mentor support meetings.
Through trauma reduction therapy and support groups, etc, we also provide healing for those Individuals/families who have been impacted by the grievous loss of family members.
